Just a reminder of a pattern that was clearly visible soon after the November election. Currently, the Trump administration has some serious people doing extraordinarily important work. The CIA team face a challenge few can fathom, and yet they appear to be making progress. When the details surface, they will hopefully get praise.
The State Department, working closely with the CIA, are likewise doing exceptional groundwork. Secretary Rubio does appear to be downsizing the tentacles of the geopolitical influence operation.
The DNI group (domestic IC) and DHS team also appear to be laying the groundwork for major changes and confronting decades of institutional wrongdoing. Tom Homan is working through the process and DHS praise and appreciation seem well warranted.
The economic team is first-in-class, and the emissaries are working the Economic Security and National Security dynamic. These policies enmesh with other operations, while President Trump and Howard Lutnick are brilliantly coordinating an outflow of positive global influence.
However, as predicted, don’t expect the DOJ and FBI silos to be anything except a hot mess. The appointed leaders have all the support needed, but the nominated heads generally do not seem to have any idea how to get their “arms around” the problems. The DOJ and FBI reform agenda is not likely to go anywhere.
Celebrate the success where serious people are operating strategically. Expecting DOJ or FBI structural silo change will likely lead to disappointment. Bondi and Patel are simply incapable of bringing that type of change.
WASHINGTON – Patel has been spotted around Washington, including a party at the British ambassador’s residence on Wednesday. He also showed up to the regional meeting without a jacket. “I’m not planning on wearing a suit, and I don’t expect you to wear one,” Patel said.
Patel also appears to be bringing many stylistic changes to the job. He told officials he planned to spend a lot of time in Las Vegas, where he was living last year. He ordered new decor for his Washington office and asked for his personal trainer to be cleared to enter the building for his workouts. (WSJ Link
